According to a recent article in The Economist, "Data are becoming the new raw material of business". The story goes on to quote Rollin Ford, the CIO of Wal-Mart, who wakes every day and asks himself: "how can I flow data better, manage data better, analyse data better?" One solution to this question is to understand the first law of geography: "Everything is related to everything else, but near things are more related than distant things". Therefore, to unlock the true value of 'big data' sets and gain insights into complex systems, it is essential to explore, analyze and visualize spatial and temporal dimensions of data, at multiple scales.

I have over seven years of expertise using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and other statistical analysis and design software tools to transform raw data into knowledge that can support evidence-based decisions. My true passion is visual storytelling - discovering hidden patterns and illustrating results through cartographic narratives.

Do you have some data and want to make a map? Or do you have a question that spatial analysis could help you answer? If so, please send me a short email to Anth42[at]gmail.com, and I would be happy to guide you through the following preliminary steps:
  1. Develop a shared understanding of your project goals;
  2. Discuss what analysis or visualization tools would be most appropriate to support your project;
  3. Estimate the time that would be required to transform your ideas into a customized visual story.
I can often provide draft and final deliverables in under two weeks if required. My goal is to always exceed your expectations and deliver a quality product on time and on budget. I look forward to speaking with you!
